Associate Program members/subscribers are required to contribute 72 hours of community service to the arts each year, or agree to pay a further $150/year plus GST or a mutually acceptable combination of hours and cash equal to the required contribution of 72 hours per year. Their service can take a variety of forms:
Service in the gallery/gift shop/classroom:
Gallery Artist – Submitting their work for adjudication in relation to the Calls to Artists associated with the Coast Collective’s gallery exhibits. If the work is accepted into the show, the artist agrees to pay a 50% commission on the sale of any work from the show, and a 10% Finder’s Fee if the work sells later as a result of the purchaser finding it through the Coast Collective exhibit. Gallery Artists are not required to contribute time to the community art centre, but they are encouraged and welcome to do so if they are able and wish to, and such an investment of their time would be appreciated. Artists submitting work from outside of the Greater Victoria area are responsible for the cost of shipping/insurance of their works in transit to and from the Coast Collective Art Centre.
Gift Shop Artist – Submitting their work for adjudication in relation to the Calls to Artists and Craftspeople associated with the Coast Collective’s Gift Shop. If the work satisfies the Adjudication Criteria, the artist/craftsperson agrees to pay a 50% commission on the sale of their work, and a 10% Finder’s Fee if the work sells later as a result of the purchaser finding it through the Coast Collective Gift Shop. (Updated Gift Shop Adjudication Criteria is available). Gift Shop Artists are not required to contribute time to the community art centre, but they are encouraged and welcome to do so if they are able and wish to, and such an investment of their time would be appreciated.
Member of SASI – Annual Individual and Business Voting Memberships (valued at $50 and $100 respectively) are available in the Society for Arts on the South Island (SASI), the not-for- profit community arts organization that operates the Coast Collective Art Centre.
