Art Gallery

The Coast Collective Gallery hosts juried themed shows of work by local artists, one-man and group shows.
Adjudication fees and hanging fees will be kept low to provide an affordable venue for Fine Art.

Submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Gallery Hours: Thursdays to Sundays 12 to 5 pm

The Art Gallery is currently accepting proposals for 2011 rentals. 2010 is fully booked!!

Points of View
August 26 – Sep 5

“Points of View” showcases work in four very diverse styles by local artists – Vikki  Flawith, Susan Hopkins, Dixie MacUisdin, and Trish Smith. Using acrylic, watercolour, or pastel, each artist presents a unique view of the world that surrounds her. Sisters, Vikki and Susan, display their colourful, transported visions of the West Coast’s landscape and wildlife; Dixie offers stylized, abstracted inspirations of Alaska; and Trish utilizes timeless Realism to explore humans’ relationship to the landscape. Eighty Sticky Fingers:   We are a group of artists who share a passion for expressing ourselves in clay.  Some of us have been sculpting for decades,  others for just a few years and all of us have worked under the guidance of Peggy Walton Packard at one time or another.  We continue to sculpt together, supporting, teaching and critiquing each others work. We hope you enjoy our sculptures as much as we have enjoyed creating them. "Believe me, my young friend, there is NOTHING--absolutely nothing--half so much worth doing as simply messing about in clay." Coast Collective Gallery Schedule for 2011

Beginnings 2011 - January 13 – 23 (2 weeks)

This Third Annual Emerging Artists Show is an opportunity for artists who have not yet become professional to show their work in a professional Gallery environment.  An opportunity for new artists to get exposure and encouragement; a place for art lovers to see and buy wonderful works early in an up-and-coming artist’s career.
Open Call:  All artists welcome to apply.  Everyone is invited to attend.
Restricted Entry.   (Applications due January 3, 2011).

Salon Des Refuses - January 27 – February 13 (3 weeks)

In the fine tradition of 19th century Paris, Coast Collective will mount a show of works rejected by other major juried shows in the area.  Due to space limitations, each year hundreds of wonderful works of art are not accepted into these local juried Fine Arts Shows.  Here’s your chance to see them!

Ways for artists to submit for our Calls for Art: Our preference is that you use the On-Line version of the Application Form if at all possible. You can find that under each Show that has an Open Call. Alternatively: - You may fill in a Word version of this form on your computer and e-mail it to gallery@coastcollective.ca. Attach images to the same e-mail. - You may fill in the form by hand, scan it and send the image by e-mail. Attach images to the same e-mail. - You may fill in the form and mail or bring it to the Coast Collective. Clearly labelled images can be e-mailed, or photographs may accompany the form. Application details for each show can be found in the “Application” section under the heading for that show.
