Bold Living Paintings- A Powerful Pairing of Two Artists
    July 3 - 14 (2 weeks)

Bold Living Paintins Invitation Odette La Roche – Saanich, BC
Living paintings that move and shimmer as the light changes, from break of day to lights out at night. Odette paints in oils with calculated use of contrasting colours and extreme lighting for maximum dramatic effects. The viewer enters the painting and is carefully led through the piece, discovering the magnified shades found in nature which otherwise go unnoticed. Applying one hue over the other with a palette knife adds to the compositional depth in the paintings, especially the oversized paintings.
It creates textured tapestries of colours. You are invited to enter.

Linda M. Anderson – Sooke, BC
Linda creates bold landscapes, seascapes, florals and still lifes in her original and innovative style of painting with only vertical brushstrokes.
Visual depth is achieved through the layering of transparent colour combinations.
Experience the Artist's vision bridging realism and abstraction. www.Vertical-Art.ca

    Quartette
    Sep 18 - 29 (2 weeks)

    Quartet Image

    Quartette
Definition: a group of things of the same kind that belong together; four people considered as a unit.

We are four artists - Sherry Mitchell, SFCA, Joan Larson, SFCA, Anne Marie Veal & Maia Levine - two painters, one potter, and one rug hooker - brought together with the common goal of exhibiting our work as a group, and thus the name “Quartette”. As individuals, we approach art in four different ways because we employ four different mediums: watercolour, chalk pastel, clay, and wool. Our artistic results, however,

have a common theme of exceptional quality and stunning visual appeal – botanical watercolours so realistic that you will feel the crunch of dry leaves and smell the blackberries; pastels of horses so beautifully rendered that you will want to reach out and feel those velvet coats; glazed pottery that you will covet to grace your table for your next dinner party; and original, often complex designs in traditional hooking that beg the question, “Is it a rug or is it art?”

Shown together, our exhibition allows the viewer to experience professional, high quality fine art and craft in one space. Our art together takes on a synergy that allows the viewer to experience the commonalities, as well as differences, in the production and representation of four unique approaches to fine art.

Quartette” will be a feast for your eyes. We know that you will enjoy the experience.

    Go Figure II
    Cloth-a-dolics Club of Victoria
    Oct 16 - 27 (2 weeks)

    Go Figure II Image

The Coast Collective will host an exhibition of work by twenty local artists from the Cloth-a-Dollics club of Victoria from October 16th through October 27th, 2013.  This mixed media show, titled, "Go Figure II", will feature art dolls, wall art, wearable art, and decor pieces devoted to the art of the figure.  The human figure is one of the most frequently depicted subjects in art and almost every doll is a representation of the human figure. The most interesting figurative art pieces are those which represent some aspect of the human condition, both real and

imaginary.  Figurative art is sometimes therapy, sometimes visionary and always represents the vitality and individualism of the artist.  Please come and enjoy this second exhibition of talented artists as the one in 2010, titled "Go Figure", was a huge success."
