Healing Power of Art
An Art Show
featuring
Helen Windsor and Amy Frank

The arts in general and visual arts in particular have long been recognized as having transformative power—not only for art appreciators but also for the artists themselves. In linking art to nature and tapping into the healing energy of the natural world Helen and Amy have created a body of work that uniquely and powerfully conveys both the woundedness and the healing experiences of their lives. Subject, medium, colour and style come together to tell two fascinating stories that are both delightfully unique and deeply rooted in the universal aspects of our shared human journey.

Amy Frank:

Poseidon’s Pulse by Amy Frank

Amy Frank is a visual artist and aspiring writer from Victoria, B.C. Canada. Her work began in her teens as a coping technique when living with un-diagnosed bipolar disorder and has blossomed into her stylized perspective of the world.
Amy works predominantly in pen and ink augmented with coloured pencils. Her trademark art style is recognized by her mixing patterns with colourful images. This style evolved unknowingly out of her need to bring emotional balance to her fluctuating moods. The feelings of creativity Amy experiences while making art can be overwhelming, becoming over stimulated when playing with composition and colour. In contrast, the repetitive patterns she creates place her into a meditative state, relieving the over-stimulation into a stream of quiet thought. She combines the patterns with colourful images in each of her pieces to incorporate this balance.
Amy successfully turned her passion and coping technique into an art business in 2011. Since then, she’s had both visual and written works published. In 2014, Amy won a Heart Award for her website and its effective advocacy for those with mental illness. In 2015, she added public speaking on the topic of her art and mental illness into her repertoire.
Through Amy’s artwork, writing, public speaking and website, she candidly shares her personal story to help promote understanding around the growing global issue of mental illness.

Helen Windsor:

Night Owl by Helen Windsor

Helen Windsor was born and raised in Coquitlam, B.C. and now resides in the quaint village of Brentwood Bay, B.C. Always interested in many forms of creative art, Helen kept her drawings to herself for most of her life. It was an outlet that was only shown to trusted family and friends. After an absence of creating art for over 10 years, due to life’s responsibilities, Helen caught the art bug and has not stopped since.
Self-taught by using her intuition, Helen’s art transformed dramatically over the last couple years. Working with black archival ink, white gel ink, india ink, metallic pigment powder ink and gold/copper/silver leafing pens and 24K gold leaf, Helen creates her art using geometric shapes, lines, patterns and symbols. All of Helen’s art is based on the sanctity of the soul and the story of each animal’s perspective.
Healing Helen Spirit Art is home for custom and original art, Fine Art/Archival prints, art cards, home decor and fashion of Inspirational Animals infused with positive energy. Helen believes strongly in communicating with the spirit of animals to share their story for others to use as a healing tool. Helen currently works from her farm and home studio in Brentwood Bay, B.C.
