| In a supportive and non-competitive environment enjoy a weekly renewal of body, mind and spirit. Carole’s gentle approach to teaching is influenced by Hatha, Prana, Raja and Dru Yoga disciplines. Regular yoga practice can slow the aging process, ease joint and muscle pain, help you sleep better and create more joy and serenity in your life.
Carole Clement is a Yoga therapist and an artist. She has presented workshops in Canada, France and the U.S. and has appeared on national and local television and radio. Carole's passion for yoga started over 40 years ago. Her approach is eclectic and multi- disciplinary, based on the needs and experience of her students. Great Beginnings in Stained Glass - Ongoing
Have you always wanted to learn how to do stained glass? Now you can and it will be fun! Learn how to cut glass, use stained glass tools and copper foil method as well as grinding and soldering. Your first project is a sun catcher of your choice. Projects afterwards can iclude a Recycled Mirror, a Tea Light Holder, etc. All supplies and tools are provided for this class. This course is designed for students with some painting skills. Different techniques and painting foundation will be explored. Topics will include planning the painting: composition and values, colour selection, achieving depth, blending, harmony, hard and soft edges and much more! Keith Hiscock was born in Victoria, BC, and he has been working as a professional artist for over twenty five years. His home in the Pacific Northwest and places to which he has traveled inform his artistic practice. From earlier abstractionist explorations to his current forays into magic realism, this self-taught artist's work is distinctive and compelling. His punctilious attention to detail and uncanny ability to create surreal distillation of light and atmosphere are of a very high order. |

This dynamic course introduces the student to the history and innovative techniques of the masters of 20th century painting. The seminal innovations of the Post-Impressionists such as van Gogh and Gauguin as well as Kirchner and Kokoschka, the German and Austrian Expressionists, will be discussed and visually presented. The startling contributions of the European Modernists Picasso and Matisse, the Abstract Expressionism of de Kooning and the more recent diverse brilliance of the London School will be explored and applied through fascinating conceptual exercises with acrylic paints. These classes are a must for those who wish to understand contemporary painting and build a foundation from which they can realize their own directions. |

Development and demonstration of various 3 dimensional techniques take you to another step in the understanding of sculptural design. Analysis of technical boundaries will allow your understanding and appreciation of these skills to expand. We will undertake a larger sculptural project in this class. Materials and Firing included. Since moving to the south island from Vancouver/Whistler she has worked in Arts administration-as founding director the VCAD and now is grateful for an opportunity to share her passion for Art. Barbara has a degree in Archaeology and Anthropology from SFU-as there was no Fine Arts department at the time-this was the closest study of Art available.These studies give her a historical background in the significance of Art throughout human history which she shares with her students to encourage cultural awareness and appreciation. Barbara also studied design, pottery and sculpture at Cap U and George Brown College-followed by a two year apprenticeship in pottery. Her classes encompass global design ideas and associated cultural styles emerging to form cultural design markers. Understanding historic development in terms of art broadens ones worldly education.She is delighted to be opening a world of Sculptural design for her students. She has established Art Studios and Art centres in both Vancouver and Whistler and has taught across Canada inspiring hundreds of Canadian and International students. She is also a potter and a painter.Her work has been commissioned in the film industry and sold privately in Canada, US, Europe,China and Japan. |

In this fun filled and creative class students will learn the basics of jewelry making. Proper crimping, basic wrapped and unwrapped loops, stringing, and basic design will be taught. Students will create a minimum of one pair of earrings, a bracelet and pendant. There is a tools and materials kit included that has everything needed to complete all the class projects and a few extras! The kits will come in several color options. If you have pliers, bring them to class. If they are not the right ones, a set of pliers will be available for purchase. |

Learn how to make a beautiful garden sculpture from an old t-shirt in just one day. Using Paverpol (a water based, non-toxic textile hardener), a wire armature, tin foil and strips of old t-shirt, you will create a standing figure in black or bronze then highlighted with the paint color of your choice. After two weeks of curing your statue is ready for the outdoors and completely weatherproof for all seasons. It’s fun and easy and no experience is required. |

This workshop is designed for people who are interested in the Chinese culture and its painting styles. Both traditional and contemporary techniques of Chinese Brush Painting will be introduced. You will learn about Chinese ink, rice paper, colour, texture, composition, and the aesthetic principles of Chinese Brush Painting. You will also learn technical skills, such as loading the brush with ink and water, dry and wet brush stroke control through instructor's demonstrations, in class discussions and by hands-on practice. This workshop will also introduce to you how to make special textures on rice paper by using non-traditional art materials. The workshop will focus on creative exploration of the brush painting medium, and expanding your visual vocabulary. Placing art in your garden will give it a whole new sophisticated look. In this one day workshop you’ll use wires, tin foil, t-shirts and Paverpol, a water based, non toxic, fabric hardener, to create heron for your home. Use the sample in class for your template or bring your own photo examples. A previous basic Paverpol class is recommended before taking this class. |

In this 4 hour introductory class students will learn the basics behind making a lampwork bead (glass beads). Safety, equipment and tools will be covered and the basics of working with glass rods to make some simple beads. Students will leave with a handful of their own beads and enough knowledge to decide if they'd like to pursue this further. Students are requested to wear cotton fabric clothing, long sleeves, old jeans, and tie back long hair. If demand calls for it we will be adding more advanced classes!! |

Portraits are one of painting's greatest challenges, but there are ways of approaching them that can help you rise to the challenge! In this weekend workshop we will explore the basic proportions of the head, the drawing difficulties of capturing a likeness, the importance of tone to building convincing form and the complexities of colour- painting what you actually see in a face , rather than what you think you know. We'll start out in Black and White paint, progressing to a simple palette that will explore colour temperature , then tackle full colour together. David will demonstrate every step of the way, showing you the techniques that have made him one of this country's most respected portrait painters. |

Learn how to make a beautiful garden sculpture from an old t-shirt in just one day. Using Paverpol (a water based, non-toxic textile hardener), a wire armature, tin foil and strips of old t-shirt, you will create a sitting figure in black or bronze then highlighted with the paint color of your choice. After two weeks of curing your statue is ready for the outdoors and completely weatherproof for all seasons. It’s fun and easy and no experience is required. Most materials included. In this 4 hour introductory class students will learn the basics behind making a lampwork bead (glass beads). Safety, equipment and tools will be covered and the basics of working with glass rods to make some simple beads. Students will leave with a handful of their own beads and enough knowledge to decide if they'd like to pursue this further. Students are requested to wear cotton fabric clothing, long sleeves, old jeans, and tie back long hair. If demand calls for it we will be adding more advanced classes!! Also suitable for students that have already taken this workshop in October. |
