Learn how to make a beautiful garden sculpture from an old t-shirt in just one day. Using Paverpol (a water based, non-toxic textile hardener), a wire armature, tin foil  and strips of old t-shirt, you will create a standing figure in black or bronze. You will take home a highlight paint in the color of your choice to apply to your sculpture after it has dried.  After a few weeks of drying indoors your statue is ready for the outdoors and completely weatherproof for all seasons.   It’s fun and easy and no experience is required.

Instructor: Kathryn Fudge

Kathryn Fudge has always been driven to create art in one form or another.  Even as a child she was constantly doing arts and crafts, or baking, or making clothes for her dolls. As an adult her creative skills allowed her to be a stay at home Mom to her three children and work from home in various jobs.  She worked for many years as a seamstress, then set up an at home wood working shop to make wood pieces to sell to a tole painting studio.  She studied and taught classes in painting with acrylics for several years before happening upon a new medium that would take her in a whole new direction.

That medium is Paverpol, a textile hardener.  She took a class and was hooked immediately.  She got certified as an instructor as soon as possible and has been teaching ever since.

Kathryn joined the Coast Collective in November 2009 as a gift shop artist and instructor for Paverpol classes.  She also organized and was directly involved in the gallery show” Sitting Pretty” for three consecutive years.  She and her friend Patricia created PKDesigns, a home based business in which they upcycle chairs and accessories, creating artful, one of a kind pieces for the home or office.

Kathryn feels most fulfilled when creating something new, be it art, a home renovation or even gardening.  She also takes great joy in learning new skills and techniques and sharing that knowledge through the classes she teaches.
