A group of four local artists: Marcela Strasdas, Deborah Czernecky,Barbara Giuliany and Terri Rodstrom, are taking the lead in developing a new and different kind of art centre. Beautiful surroundings. An affordable showcase for Fine Art. A place to visit, relax and learn. A place to bring people together to celebrate our rich cultural heritage on the Westshore.

The Coast Collective Art Centre is housed in Pendray House (formerly Pacific Centre) as part of Essencia at Esquimalt Lagoon. This development, now in the planning stages, is expected to become one of the most innovative resort community developments in Canada. Nestled between a picturesque migratory bird sanctuary and some of the most spectacular urban forests in North America, Essencia strives to honour the past while building a holistic and sustainable vision for the future.

The Coast Collective Gallery hosts juried themed shows of work by local artists, one-man and group shows. Adjudication fees and hanging fees will be kept low (no charge whenever possible) to provide an affordable venue for Fine Art.

The Coast Collective Gift Shop carries excellent quality original work, including items in a full range of prices. We will include stories about the work or the artist wherever possible. We intend to have significant contributions by local First Nations artists.

Coast Collective Classes and Workshops are offered in a wide range of media and disciplines, from diverse cultures, for people of all ages and all skill levels by well known and talented local artists. Special workshops by renowned national and international artists scheduled periodically.

We will plan Coast Collective Arts Events regularly to share our local arts and culture with the community. We will collect stories about Pendray House from those who have known it in all its many incarnations to build a “people’s history” of this special place.

The Coast Collective at Esquimalt Lagoon will be a dynamic, exciting centre promoting local art and culture. A destination for tourists and local residents alike, the elegant gallery and gift shop will showcase the best work of Island artists, young and old, famous or just emerging. Exceptional, innovative instructors encourage the pursuit of excellence – and fun!
