Weekend Opening Receptions for Two Very Different Shows
This weekend the Coast Collective will be hosting two meet-the-artist receptions. Both are free to attend, family-friendly, and will include light refreshments.
The first will be on Saturday, February 3 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. It’s for “Art from the Attic,” a group show featuring artwork that has languished too long unseen. This show features a stunning mix of artwork in many different sizes and price points, so come have a look at these unearthed treasures and meet some of the amazing artists!
The second, on Sunday, February 4 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm is for Maria Roxborough’s solo exhibition “Dolls – From Play to Art.”
Maria says that:
“My figurative dolls show the range of figures that can be made using fabrics. Dolls are playthings, dolls evoke emotions, dolls inspire art and creativity, dolls are loved, collected, and displayed all over the world and throughout history. This show is my journey into the process of creating art through ‘the doll.'”
Her show features a wide variety of figures from tiny wall-mounted painted ladies to adorable elephants to steampunk crows to mermaids lounging on handcrafted thrones. Come meet the imagination behind these fantastic figures!
